Damsels and Dragons with Bernie Peet

Hi Everybody!

Bernie Peet was our guest instructor tonight. Twenty four avid fly tyers came out to learn to tie three dandy damsel and dragon fly patterns. Bernie did an excellent job of leading our gang through the steps to tie these imposters. As you can see from the photos below, Bernie has dedicated an entire fly box to dragon and damsel patterns. I do the same. I have had some amazing days on the water fishing with damsel patterns. Trout love to inhale these nymphs as they work their way to shore and crawl up shoreline vegetation. Trout do chase the adults that fly around but they will key into their migration to shore in a bigger way. Thanks for the excellent instruction tonight Bernie!

Weight: 0.15 or 0.20 lead wire

Tail: Olive marabou

Rib: Oval gold tinsel, medium

Thorax: Olive dubbing

Thorax cover: Olive or brown pheasant tail

Head: small bead chain eyes, or green plastic eyes

Hackle (optional) Olive hen, beard style

Lake Dragon (Stan Gredes, Three Hills, AB)

Hook: 3X nymph or streamer hook, #8

Weight: 0.15 or 0.20 lead wire

Underbody (optional): Knitting wool

Body: Olive dubbing

Rib:  Copper wire, medium

Shellback and wing case:  Olive Swiss straw/raffia

Legs:  Olive or brown pheasant tail

Eyes:  Black plastic, medium

Central Alberta Trout Unlimited Garage Sale Saturday March 9th

Hi Everybody!

I need to know who has items that will be for sale at the Central Alberta Trout Unlimited Garage Sale on Saturday March 9th from 10 am to 3 PM at Mattie McCullough School.

Address: 26 Lawford Avenue (travel to the east end of 32ns Street turn right and the school is on your right)

If I do not get sufficient items for the garage sale by Wednesday March 6th at 10 PM, I will cancel the garage sale VIA e-mail.

Tables will be provided.

Drop off for the garage sale is from 9 am to 10 am at Mattie McCullough School. 

It is up to the seller to get the items on a table ready to go. Items have to be properly bagged and priced. 

Sellers will be asked to donate a minimum of 20% of their proceeds to Central Alberta Trout Unlimited. I hope that the sellers will consider donating as much as possible.

Sellers are responsible for picking up unsold items at 1 PM sharp.
