Brown Drakes, Brown Trout Equals Lots of Fun on the Red Deer River
Brown drake hatches on the Red Deer River are mostly an evening affair just a dusk settles in. The spinner fall can happen both in the morning and evening. Sometimes an overcast rainy day can have a brown drake hatch right in the middle of the day! Steve and Taryn have been out looking for snouts of browns greedily gulping down these big mayflies. Browns sometimes throw caution to the wind so they can devour these delights, that is when the fly fishing is lots of fun! As you can see below, both Steve and Taryn have done quite well in their mission to find browns eating brown drakes.
