Mitchell Pond at Heritage Ranch

Karen and I always take the time to visit Mitchell Pond at Heritage Ranch with our fly rods. We often ski at Heritage Ranch and bike through but today we took our fly rods so we could fish the pond for an hour. I always say Hi to Barry when I pass his plaque at Mitchell Pond. For those of you who do no know Barry, the plaque above says it all.

Well today the fishing was excellent. Lots of stockers to be caught!

Karen and I also met up with Alex. We helped Alex get set up to catch the rainbows and that he did.

Mitchell Pond takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk to from the Heritage Ranch parking lot. Either take the stairs or walk the trail. Excellent exercise.! Lots of fishers ride their bikes down to the pond. What an excellent place to take kids to learn to fish. Take a small micro leech and put it 3 feet below a strike indicator or bobber if you are using a conventional spinning rod.

Pack a picnic lunch or just ride/walk down for a few hours. It is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of urban life and noise! The osprey helped themselves to a few stockers and it is fun to watch the ducks. We do see owls around Heritage Ranch as well as deer and moose.
