Streams in West Central Alberta

Steve Luethi has been out exploring  rivers in the west Central Alberta area during the first two weeks that these rivers have been open. Steve did a fly tying session at Out Fly Fishing in Calgary, showing how to tie a great looking articulated rabbit strip streamer. A few days later, the same streamer helped him make an acquaintance with a bull trout that was looking for a decent meal!

Early season fly fishing conditions have been excellent. Ice is off several pot hole lakes as well. Check your regulations to ensure the river or lake is officially open to fishing before heading out!

A well camouflaged trout under the branch!

That is one thick bull trout!

Several brown trout streams are now open too!
