The north wind persisted the last few days. With the new moon phase and north winds, the tides have been way off kilter. The flats water depths were shallow and the bonefish were so spooky. We all tried to find tarpon and lady fish to start the day. Doug had some shots at tarpon, then Karen and I headed over to Lobster Flats with Omar. We found some jacks but a bunch of barracuda blew them up. Darn.
We went looking for bonefish but the low tides made them impossibly spooky! Bill and Doug found some bonefish in a deeper area and they had excellent success. Omar's panga even got hung up on the flats. We had to push it off.
It was definitely a challenging day. We still enjoyed the day. When you have a day where you get over 70 bonefish to hand, you have to expect the flip side too. Lousy visibility and low tides made it tough to connect on but a few bonefish!
I am always impressed with the guides when the conditions are so tough and they work their butts off trying to find fish to cast to!
Little did we know that tomorrow when the rain moved in, we were going to get hit with 5 inches of rain in a very short period of time.
