Well we got 2024 off to a great start. Reliant Oilfield Services Learning Centre was full to capacity with fly tyers. Tonight, we tied parachute flies. I use them a lot, especially on rivers. We concentrated on tying a Purple Haze, Parachute Adams and a Parachute PMD. Take a look! Next week, Steve Luethi is back and we are going to tie some flies from Argentina and Cree Lake in Northern Saskatchewan.

Year in Review 2023-A Picture Essay

Bill Young photo

Happy New Year Everyone! Karen and I hope that 2024 is an amazing year filled with family, happiness, good health and lots of time on the water! The Central Alberta Fly Tying Club is a big part of our lives. More importantly, the gang is amazing and we love to fly fish with all of you. Karen and I have meet so many fabulous people to fly fish with. To me it is all about the people and the adventure. You will find trips to the Arctic, Montana, Washington State, Belize, Mexico, Christmas Island, the jungles of South America and of course so many destinations right here in Alberta in this collection of pictures.

Many of you have an outstanding eye when using your cameras/phones. Looking back, it was a fabulous year. It's fun to look back but we are always looking to what we have to look forward to. That includes the places and the people we love to fly fish with. This last year included some new destinations and some new species to fly fish for! Not every trip is perfect but we do have so many wonderful moments that far out weigh the trips that do not work out the way one visualizes them.

I tried to organize these adventures but that really was a job that would take hours.

Enjoy these wonderful moments. I truly believe that fly fishing is about moments. I reflect back on lots of them and look forward to more.

I am already looking forward to our next trip! Lets make 2024 the best yet! Thanks for sharing your shots!
