Karen and I have 5 grandsons (no granddaughters yet). We love spending time outside with them. Luckily my grandkids love being outside. Well taking them fly fishing, especially at a young age, is all about small doses and lots of distraction. The kids love reeling in the fish and feeling the pull as they try and put their quarry in the net. Always make the fly fishing about them. My son-in -law, Alan, and I hooked the fish and then let the grandkids attempt to land their trout! It quickly is apparent when it is time to put the rods away and do something else. Going for a walk or a hike is a great way to keep the kids going, even after they are finished with fishing. Make the day all about them, it will pay off in dividends in the long run!
