Fly Tying season is well under way. I have started to fill in the chironomid boxes first. It made me think about what was the chironomid that I liked to tie on first or my "go to" chironomid. I asked Karen too. We both agreed it was John Kent's, Rusty Nail. There is no question the Rusty Nail can stand out in a crowd, especially with the Mirage Flashabou. John has a unique method of tying these chironomids. Whenever he uses micro tubing for a rib, he puts the rib in first then fills in the body (usually flashabou) next. Tie them from size 16 to size 12. You will be glad you did!
