Blue Flash Damsels with Larry Prowse

Larry Prowse was our guest instructor tonight. Larry showed the twenty fly tyers, that braved the -25C  cold, three different ways to tie Blue Flash Damsels. We also had the opportunity to use the new Upavon Blue Flash Damsel Straggle Hackle. Blue Flash Damsels have become popular in the United Kingdom for fly fishing. I have tried using Blue Flash Damsels at Maligne Lake in Jasper National Park. My wife and I had a lot of success using this pattern. It is fun casting and retrieving Blue Flash Damsels. The takes are jarring. Don't forget you can tie these neat damsel patterns on jig hooks or make them balanced as well.

Thanks Larry for a very enjoyable evening! I can hardly wait for spring so I can cast these delightful fly patterns!

Next Monday is Family Day and there is no fly tying.

The last weekend of February is the Sportsman Show. If you can lend a hand helping run our fly tying booth, give Willy a call (403-392-1956)!

The following Monday, Rick Miyauchi will be continuing his presentation on scuds and how to fish them. It promises to be a very educational session! Bring some olive 8/0 thread for Rick's presentation!
