Hexagenia Limbata

This brown was quietly sipping hexagenia mayflies along a grassy bank! The interesting thing was the birds trying to get the mayflies before the brown did.

There has been a lot of interest in these massive mayflies. The trout love hexagenia mayflies which hatch in Central Alberta for about 10 days in late June and early July! The brown trout love to dine on hexagenia! They are after all a big meal. I picked up a few in a eddy a few evenings ago. They are incredibly large mayflies!
