Excellent Day on the Bow River

My buddy Dave and I floated the Bow River today! The Bow was still high, fast and off colour but we still decided to float! We set up dry fly rods with big tan foam chernobyls, set up a streamer rod with a heavily weighted dark streamer and a nymphing rod with a San Juan Worm and a large Jimmy Legs, size 6! The first brown trout of the day was on the dry fly. We nymphed with a lot of success but streamer fishing was a bust. The day included a larger rainbow on the dry and a large brown near the end of drift on a San Juan Worm.

Today was the first summer like day that we have had in a while. My buddy Dave knows the Bow intimately. He has guided and now spends a great deal of time on the river. Dave spent a lot of the day on the oars. He is an excellent coach on the water.

We had a lot of fun. I certainly enjoyed his company!
