It was a busy last few days. Steve and I were looking forward to spending Saturday fly fishing west of Red Deer. Snow squalls deposited a lot of snow in Central Alberta on Friday evening but we decided to venture out anyway. The driving was fine and the wind was not even noticeable. We bundled up and trudged down the river looking for browns with a streamer or a nymph and of course there was a good possibility of tangling with some rocky mountain whitefish. We realized quite quickly that the browns we hiding and riding out the snowstorm. We did tangle with a few rockies. But what made the day was the beauty of fly fishing in a snowstorm. The river and everything around it was adorned in the white stuff! It sure made a beautiful backdrop for the day. The temperature never rose above zero, so clearing the guides of ice happened a lot. It was a neat day to be out on the water!
