Pike Streamers and Morrish Mice with Dr. Bill Young

Dr. Bill Young was our guest instructor tonight. He taught 15 fly tyers how to tie a pike streamer that he designed. Effective pike patterns do not need to be complicated. A rabbit strip with lots of flash, crystal chenille and some hackle in your favourite colours will certainly get the attention of pike. Dr. Bill also showed us how to tie a Morrish Mouse. This is an excellent pattern that brown trout will devour in the dark and is a tried and true fish catcher for so many species. Thanks Bill for an enjoyable evening of fly tying.

Next week Ralf Kuntzemann is our guest instructor. This will be a tying session that you will definitely enjoy! Ralf is a very creative fly tyer with many neat ideas, some unconventional yet very effective.

We still need some fly tyers for our all day Fly Tying Workshop with Phil Rowley on February 11th. Please send me a text (403-598-3802) or e-mail me bob.vanderwater@rdpsd.ab.ca. The cost is $75- that includes all of the tying materials and lunch!
