Backswimmer Bonanza in the Howling Wind

The wind was howling as we rigged up. We were going to have to fly fish from shore. We had no choice. Doug and I were ok with it but would the trout be interested in our backswimmers and boatmen? Doug decided to strip a floating backswimmer pattern (LR Boatman) and had a flashback trailing about 18 inches behind on a floating line. I pulled out my hover line and tied on a Rinse and Repeat (Backswimmer) with a LR Boatman trailing 18 inches behind. We could not see any evidence of backswimmers on the surface because of the extreme wind. It did not matter to the trout, they were definitely interested in both presentations. The challenge was the casting and trying to not get tangled.

LR Boatman, Rinse and Repeat Backswimmers and Flashbacks definitely got the attention of the trout! We were both surprised at our success.
