Enjoying the Backcountry

Karen and I had the opportunity to load up our day packs and hike into a backcountry lake that has cutthroat trout. It was good to get a good walk in the mountains that included some sweat equity to get there! The 7 km hike included 800 m of uphill. Once at our destination, we spent 4 hours enjoying sight fishing to cruising cutthroats. Small gnats and tiny black chironomids helped us catch lots of 12 to 15 inch cutts. It was a beauty of a day. The drive home was interesting because of the intense storms that hit the Rocky Mountain House and points to the east hard. We were lucky enough to weave our way through the storms unscathed.
