Pot Hole Fly Fishing Update in Central Alberta

Karen and I have encountered several members of our fly tying club out on the water! I am pleased to see they have done a great job socially distancing. The fly fishing on local pot holes is certainly getting better as the water temperature slowly rises into the low 50 F. Small leeches have been the ticket lately. Glenn's Leech tied both balanced and on a curved nymph hook fished 4 feet down with an indicator has worked very well. Blood worms have also been quite productive during the afternoon. Beaver Lake is almost ice free, as is almost all pot hole lakes in central Alberta. Stocking has also begun. Hansens (Eckville) and Ray's Pond (Benalto) are now stocked. Keep an eye on the stocking summary (links on the previous post) to keep yourself current!
